FIFA World Cups have been anything but predictable and this one has topped the chart. This World Cup saw some shocking defeats with which, players and fans shed their tears.
The World Cup is getting exciting or going downhill, fans can only fight for this. But this World Cup has surely brought some exciting records. Argentinian captain, Lionel Messi played his 1000th match of his career (during Argentina vs Australia) in the World Cup 2022. He broke the record of the most ‘player of the match’ earned in the World Cup history (eight). Spain became the first team to attempt 1000 and more passes in a World Cup match (1034 passes vs Costa Rica). This World Cup is the only one with female referees. As of December 7, France’s Kylian Mbappe led the race for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot, with five goals.
With these amazing records come some shocking defeats. The unexpected happened in the FIFA World Cup of 2022. Argentina, which was going to beat Italy’s record of ‘unbeaten in continuous matches’ lost to Saudi Arabia. The South American team still managed to qualify for the quarterfinals leaving Saudi Arabia out of the World Cup. Japan defeated the 2014 World Cup winners, Germany but couldn’t qualify for quarterfinals. Tunisia beat the 2018 World Cup winners, France but the Group D winners, France moved towards the quarterfinals round. Tunisia fails to advance. Spain’s team succumbed to no other, but Morocco and failed to secure a place in the quarterfinals. South Korea’s team beat Portugal and Cameron managed to defeat Brazil. Despite this, the teams came back stronger than ever and Argentina, France, Portugal and Brazil have secured their place in the quarterfinals.
This World Cup is the most devastating one. FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is the last World Cup of many of the greatest players witnessed in the football history.

Players and fans sat on the ground with cheeks red, eyes teary and emotions which can make a grown up man cry. Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez and Manuel Neuer lost their last chance as they played their last matches. The defeat hit them like a truck and they are left with bruises which will take time to heal although, their contribution to their countries have been magical and people will remember them as the greatest.
Players are retiring yet only one gets to win the World Cup, this is not a race that seems easy. These glittering stars of football one day had to step down and the youngsters are all ready to prove their dedication and worth for their countries.
Nonetheless, eight teams have reached the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. They have quite tough rivals and the predictions of the win have been guessed.
